Simply living simply,
you are enough.

Dr. Debbie Cheshire

Prior to pursuing my doctoral degree, I earned undergraduate degrees in Psychology, Music Education and Music Therapy from Wartburg College in Waverly, IA where I was a member of the Chamber Orchestra, the Symphony, and the Wartburg Choir. I then worked as a music therapist for adults with physical and cognitive challenges for four years after graduation before electing to return to school to earn my master’s degree in music therapy from Colorado State University in Ft. Collins, CO.

I graduated from Antioch New England Graduate School in 2006 with a doctorate in Clinical Psychology. I completed my internship at the Northwest Georgia Consortium where I spent four months in each of a community mental health agency, a residential home and school for children and adolescents, and the state hospital. Upon completion of my internship, I worked briefly in a community mental health agency in Maine before relocating to complete my postdoctoral residency at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in College Station, TX and ultimately spent the past 12 years working in integrated health care in both the OB/GYN and Pediatric Departments at Baylor Scott & White. I returned to New Hampshire in 2018 to be closer to family and to pursue my goal of beginning a private practice in the Monadnock region. In addition to my clinical work, I teach and supervise doctoral students at Antioch.

I am first and foremost a Christian woman who has been blessed with the opportunity to receive an education grounded in research and science about how the mind works. I intertwine that research of psychology with the message of God's love into psychotherapy for individuals who are looking for a therapy experience that will address the reality that an individual's spiritual life is necessary to include in psychological work.

I work primarily with women, adolescents, and children, and specialize in issues of mood dysregulation, postpartum mood imbalance, anxiety, grief and loss, self-harm, disordered eating, adjustment issues, and the interplay of physical and emotional health on one another.
