    Groups

The benefit from participating in a therapeutic group cannot be overstated and because of this, I offer several groups with specific topics. Groups vary throughout the year and regularly address issues such as postpartum mood difficulties, anxiety, and weight management so please check back periodically and/or contact me directly if there is a particular group for which you are looking.

Groups typically meet weekly for 8 weeks and run for 90 minutes each session.

There is currently one group with available space, Self-care for the Season. Each session is 60 minutes long and the group will run for 4 weeks. Registration in advance is necessary to insure adequate space. The group format includes didactic, discussion, gentle yoga, and reflection. Topics covered include creating space for the self amidst the demands of the season, incorporating exercise into a booked schedule, managing loss in this season, and acknowledging the season in an authentic way.

I offer a variety of yoga classes that incorporate LifeForce yoga interventions with Hatha and Vinyasa traditions.

    Yoga

Hatha and Vinyasa yoga differ in the pace and the goal of the specific practice. Hatha yoga is designed to align and calm the mind, body and spirit. It is the most widely practiced form of yoga in America and uses bodily postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama), and meditation (dyana) with the goal of bringing about a sound, healthy body and a clear, peaceful mind.

Vinyasa is a type of yoga that links movement and breath to attain balance in the mind and body. From the Sanskrit “to place in a special way,” vinyasa aligns a deliberate sequence of poses with the breath to achieve a continuous flow. Vinyasa classes often repeat series of poses and often involve increasing body heat — and sweat — and building strength.

I offer classes that focus on specific therapeutic goals including increased sense of calm, body acceptance, and increased energy. Classes are small (3 - 4 students) thus allowing for a more intimate and personalized application of the goals in combination with the particular movements and last 60 minutes. Please call and register in advance to reserve a space; payment is due at the time of the class.
